Policeman Killed, Mornarch’s Wife, 14 Others Abducted In Zamfara
A mobile policeman attached to the Maru Police Division lost his life in the wee hours of Monday in Ruwandoruwa, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State in a shoot-out with rampaging bandits who were in search for the district head.
In the absence of the district head, the bandits went away with his wife and 14 other community members. The assault which occurred around 12:30 am on Monday, saw the assailants fire indiscriminately upon entering the community.
The brave mobile policeman faced the attackers in front of the district head’s residence in an attempt to defend the house but was fatally shot.
Notably, the bandits’ primary target was the district head, but their attempt to kidnap him proved unsuccessful as he was not present during the attack. Consequently, the assailants resorted to abducting his wife.
The bandits have not made any contact with the community for ransom concerning the abducted persons. The Zamfara State Police Command has not issued a statement on the incident as of the latest update, leaving the community in suspense and seeking justice for the lives lost and those tragically taken in the attack.
