Natasha Opens Up On Godfather Who Backed Her Against Yahaya Bello (Video)
Speaking against the background of her resilience against forces of Governor Yahaya Bello and her appointment on Tuesday as chairman of an important Senate committee, newly inaugurated lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti has opened up on the role of her godfather in her political journey.
GWG.ng reports that Senator Akpoti spoke on Tuesday after she was appointed as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local Content and Vice Chairman of the Committee on Steel.
Her new appointments came after she shocked the political landscape to emerge senator representing Kogi Central, and with it, senator representing her long time political foe, Governor Yahaya Bello.
Speaking to newsmen on Tuesday after she was named chairman of the Senate Committee on Local Content, she said:
“Being one who has no godfather but God Almighty, I intend to have my voice, pure, sincere and honest for all Nigerians.”
GWG.ng reports, that though Senator Natasha Akpoti affirms not to have a godfather, she, has, however, not been shy to parade her husband, Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan as her bedrock. Uduaghan, (not the former governor) is one of Nigeria’s richest men with strong personal affiliations to some of Nigeria’s powerful figures including a very prominent personality in the Senate leadership.
Besides disowning a godfather, Senator Natasha Akpoti also expressed gratitude to the Judicial system for facilitating the restoration of her mandate as the rightful senator-elect and extended sympathy to fellow Senators who recently lost their legal battles. Describing herself as a political reformer, she outlined her commitment to sanitizing the political space and reforming electoral processes to ensure the election of true, capable, and competent leaders.
“I like to call myself a political reformer. That means I would like to sanitize the political space and try to bring about reforms in the electoral processes so that we would be able to elect leaders that are true, capable and competent”.

GWG.ng reports that on October 31, 2023, Natasha Akpoti was officially declared the winner of the February general election after successfully challenging Mr. Abubakar Ohere in both the Tribunal and the Appeal Court. Originally announced as the election winner, Ohere’s victory was overturned due to electoral irregularities during the electioneering processes, making Natasha the first and only female Senator in Kogi State.
