Delta State-based First Delta American Hospital (FDAH) has been commended for making an impressive mark in healthcare delivery in just four years of its existence.

The Secretary to the Delta State Government, SSG, Dr Kingsley Emu, gave the commendation on Friday in Asaba while speaking at the maiden end of year party and award ceremony of the hospital.

Dr Emu noted that the vision of the founder of the hospital, US-based Dr (Mrs) Isioma Okobah, to have a place where Nigerians could have their health challenges satisfactorily attended to without having to travel out of the country had been largely realized given the tremendous impact the health facility had made in the treatment of in and out-patients.

The SSG attributed the speedy growth and popularity of the hospital to the conducive work environment and motivation provided for staff by the management, which had engendered greater dedication to duty, increased productivity and quality service delivery that had made FDAH a reference point in the health industry within and outside the state.

He commended the medical and administrative staff of the health institution for giving their best to justify their engagement, and urged them to continue in that stead as it would help them to succeed in managing their own businesses.

Dr Emu advised the staff to aspire to self development through further studies or skill acquisition to prepare them for higher responsibilities and strengthen them economically beyond their present employment, stressing that the hospital should encourage the staff to grow.

The SSG congratulated the awardees and charged them to do more in taking the hospital to greater heights, while calling on those not recognized to work harder to be able to make the list in subsequent editions of the ceremony.

Speaking to Journalists on the occasion, the Founder and Chairman of FDAH, Dr (Mrs) Isioma Okobah, ascribed the realization of the vision of establishing the hospital some four years ago to God, pointing out that she felt highly fulfilled that Deltans, and indeed Nigerians, could access quality healthcare in the hospital.

Dr Okobah said the event was put together to appreciate and encourage the medical and administrative staff whose roles and contributions helped to carve a niche for the hospital and give patients cause to continue to visit the hospital for their health needs.

She assured the staff of improved welfare and a better work environment that would further motivate them to increase productivity, and urged them to remain dedicated to their duties.

Earlier, the Practice Manager of FDAH, Dr Ujedibie Onyeka, expressed delight that the hospital had grown to become a foremost private health institution in the state, which he attributed to the sterling leadership qualities of the Founder, Dr (Mrs) Isioma Okobah and the dedication of the staff to their duties.

The highlights of the event were the decoration of Chief Nwakalo-Imu and Rev Father Charles Okeke as patrons of the hospital and the presentation of awards to some deserving members of staff.

They included the Medical Officer of the year, Dr James Okolie; the Matron, Mrs Georgia Anaele; Nurse of the year, Chisom Ithoku; Pharmacist staff of the year, Precious Ofili; Laboratory staff of the year, Lydia Aideh; Admin staff of the year, Sandra Onwordi and two Ambassadors, Victoria Orji and Glory Divine.
