Youths in Zaria, Kaduna State, on Wednesday, took to the streets to protest the Nigerian Army bombing of Tudun Biri community in Igabi local government area.

Marching through the town with placards bearing messages like “Justice for Arewa,” “Justice for Igabi,” and “Secure North,” the protesters expressed their grievances. The air strikes resulted in over 80 confirmed deaths, marking one of the deadliest accidental bombings by the Nigerian Army in the country’s history.

Survivors reported being bombed twice as Amnesty International officials visited the affected communities, verifying an increased death toll. Northwest NEMA spokesperson Halima Suleiman confirmed 85 dead and 66 injured, with ongoing search efforts.

Despite tensions and ongoing negotiations with community leaders, emergency officials aimed to reach the affected village. President Bola Tinubu ordered an investigation after the army admitted its drone accidentally struck Tudun Biri during a Muslim festival, expressing deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives without specifying casualty figures.

GWG.ng reports that the protest over the bombing in Zaria over the Tudun Biri bombing came despite reported efforts by high-level personalities to calm frayed nerves over the devastating loss that came from the redirection of the drone from the bandits to the innocent villagers.
