Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power in the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration has declared his intention to rejoin the All Progressives Congress (APC) after departing from Accord.

Adelabu, who served as the gubernatorial candidate for Accord in the Oyo 2023 election, had left the APC amidst a crisis leading up to the Oyo 2023 elections. His departure came after losing to Senator Teslim Folarin by over 600 votes during the primaries.

In a letter addressed to the State Chairman and leaders of the All Progressives Party Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Adelabu announced his official return, scheduled to be declared at a ceremony at the Party Office in Oke-Ado on December 15, 2023.

The dated letter of December 6, 2023, titled “CEREMONY TO ANNOUNCE MY RETURN TO APC,” states: “I hereby write to notify the State Executives and leaders of All Progressive Party Congress (APC), Oyo State, of my intention to officially announce my return to our Great Party at a ceremony to be held at the Party Office in Oke-Ado on 15th December, 2023.”

Adelabu explained his departure from the party during the crisis surrounding the state Congress and Primary Elections administration. After consulting with National Leaders and Executives, he decided to return to the party, as demonstrated by a courtesy visit to the Party National Chairman, where the imperative of his return was agreed upon.

“As a serving Minister of Power of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under President Tinubu led Administration, I look forward to a robust working relationship with the State Executive, Party Leaders, and entire party members towards achieving the renewed hope Agenda of Mr. President and the party at large, and in particular, in installing an APC-led Government at the State level in 2027 for an unprecedented development of Oyo State.”
