Video: “Don’t Marry a Man Whose Phone You Can’t Access”- Popular Ibadan Pastor Advocates
Pastor Femi Lazarus, an Ibadan-based cleric, has delivered a piece of advice to the women in his congregation, encouraging them not to enter into marriage with a man whose phone they cannot access.
Dismissing the notion that privacy guarantees peace in relationships, Pastor Lazarus emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability.
In his sermon, the pastor cautioned against subscribing to the belief that spouses should refrain from going through each other’s phones for the sake of peace. He argued that trust and openness should be the foundation of a healthy marital relationship.
Sharing his own example, Pastor Lazarus disclosed that although physically located in Ibadan, his devices in Lagos have WhatsApp installed, and his wife has the freedom to review his chats. This, he believes, is a testament to the level of trust and accountability that should exist between spouses.
The pastor stressed the need for couples to be accountable to each other and suggested the involvement of spiritual mentors—fathers or mothers—who can provide guidance and correction if needed. This, according to Pastor Femi Lazarus, fosters a supportive and spiritually grounded environment within marriages.
