Birthday: Lawmakers Celebrate Wike In Abuja As Fubara Demolishes Structures In Rivers (Video)
Amid the continuing faceoff between the camps of Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State and that of his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, a strong delegation of members of the state delegation to the National Assembly and the members of the House of Assembly have shown solidarity with the FCT Minister on his birthday in his Abuja residence.
A video of the visit of the lawmakers hailing Wike on his birthday has emerged on social media with differing comments on the development in Abuja.
GWG.ng reports that the celebration of Wike’s birthday came as the political crisis in his native Rivers State reached a climax with Governor Fubara ordering the demolition of the House of Assembly complex. He gave as reason the claim that the structure of the assembly had become compromised by the bombing of the complex a month ago.
He directed that the lawmakers should meet in the Government House.
GWG.ng reports that the physical demolition of the assembly complex is coming in the shadows of the claims that Governor Fubara was also demolishing the political structures of his predecessor.
Following the development, the lawmakers loyal to him met in the Government House and sacked all 27 lawmakers loyal to Wike following their decision to defect from the PDP on whose platform they were elected. The governor followed suit by presenting his 2024 appropriation bill to the four lawmakers loyal to him.
