Man Arrested for Allegedly Stealing Solar Panels Installed by State Government
The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a 30-year-old man, identified as Emmanuel Achogwu, over his alleged involvement in the theft of solar panels recently installed by the Lagos state government.
According to a statement shared by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the state police command, the Lagos State Government had recently implemented a project to install solar-powered streetlights in various parts of the state. However, within a few weeks of the installation, reports emerged of solar panels being stolen from these installations.
In response to the incidents, the police initiated an investigation. Recently, officers from Alausa Division arrested Emmanuel Achogwu on Ikosi Road with four solar panels, shortly after he had allegedly removed them.
Hundeyin disclosed that the preliminary investigation indicated that the suspect was one of the technicians contracted to install the solar-powered streetlights. The ongoing investigation aims to unravel the extent of the involvement and any accomplices in the alleged theft of the solar panels.
