Akeredolu’s Death: Another Reminder That No One Is Immortal
By Gideon Ayeni
In the wake of the reported demise of Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, at the age of 67, a poignant lesson emerges – a stark reminder of the inevitability of death by those who wield political power as if tomorrow will never come.
GWG.ng reports that the political events leading to the death of Akeredolu were marked by political crises as a number of political aides and associates of Governor Akeredolu sought to block his deputy from the political limelight. It got to the point of the soon-to-be-confirmed governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa being faced with an impeachment threat by the Amen Camp of Akeredolu.
Several of Akeredolu’s aides also used the name of the governor to suppress the deputy governor who was kept away from either interacting with the governor while he was severely sick.

This development serves as a powerful message to other politicians, emphasizing that amassed wealth and political influence do not grant immunity from mortality. Akeredolu’s passing underscores the fragility of life, resonating with the broader truth that, irrespective of status or financial standing, everyone will eventually face the certainty of death.
As the political landscape and the entire people of Ondo State absorb the impact of Akeredolu’s death, the narrative shifts beyond the usual political discourse, prompting reflection on the transience of power and the ultimate leveler – mortality. This incident becomes not just a political event but a poignant reminder to all, transcending party lines and affiliations, that the one certainty in life is its eventual conclusion.
