Charles Okocha Alleges Boxing Match With Portable Was Rigged, Seeks Rematch (Video)
Renowned Nigerian actor, Charles Okocha, is calling for the annulment of his recent boxing match with Nigerian singer Portable, alleging foul play and denouncing the referee’s decisions as inexperienced.
The much-anticipated clash between Okocha and Portable unfolded on December 26th, resulting in Portable’s victory as declared by the referee.
However, Okocha swiftly voiced his dissatisfaction, accusing Portable of removing his boxing gloves during the third round—a breach that, according to Okocha, should have led to immediate disqualification.
Taking to his social media platform, Okocha expressed his frustration, questioning the legitimacy of the match and pointing fingers at both the referee and the event organizers. In a statement, he declared, “How can you give up in the 3rd round when we have 4 rounds? How do you take off your gloves in the third round, leading to total disqualification when the fight hasn’t ended?”
Asserting that the bout was rigged to favour Portable, Charles Okocha emphasized the alleged incompetence of the referee in matters of boxing and its rules. Despite the setback, he hinted at a forthcoming rematch, resiliently stating, “Nevertheless, we move on. Rematch coming soon.”
The controversy surrounding the match raises questions about fair play and the need for a thorough review of the circumstances leading to Portable’s victory Charles Okocha declared.
