Ailing Actor, Zack Orji Will Not Be Abandoned – Saidi Balogun Tells Critics
Nollywood icon Zack Orji, revered for his immense contributions to the Nigerian film industry, is currently on the path to recovery after a health scare that prompted his hospitalization on New Year’s Eve.
Admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the National Hospital in Abuja, Zack Orji faced serious challenges such as fatigue, rendering him unable to walk or communicate upon admission. Encouragingly, the actor has shown signs of improvement by regaining his ability to speak.
High-profile figures, including the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and the Vice President’s wife, Nana Shettima, underscored their concern for Orji’s well-being with a visit to the hospital on January 1st, 2024. The Minister of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, further emphasized the need for supporting the ailing actor during her visit after he was transferred to a private hospital for brain surgery on New Year’s Day.
Saidi Balogun, a fellow actor and member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), sought to reassure critics about the party’s commitment to Zack Orji’s recovery. Balogun, previously serving as the assistant spokesperson for the Performing and Creative Art Directorate of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, affirmed that the government and party have been actively involved in responding promptly to the actor’s needs and will continue to do so.
Despite facing criticism for his endorsement of President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 general elections and serving as a director of performing arts for the APC’s presidential campaign council, Zack Orji’s unwavering supporter, Saidi Balogun, remains steadfast in his belief in Tinubu’s potential to steer the country forward. Despite encountering backlash and professional setbacks, Balogun stands by his decision, confident in Tinubu’s leadership capabilities. The nation eagerly awaits further updates on Zack Orji’s recovery journey.
