‘X-Men’ Actor Adan Canto Is Dead
Mexican actor Adan Canto, celebrated for his roles in popular American TV shows such as Designated Survivor and notable films like X-Men: Days of Future Past, has passed away at the age of 42.
The cause of his untimely death was appendiceal cancer, as confirmed by his publicist. Adan Canto, who portrayed the national security adviser alongside Kiefer Sutherland in Designated Survivor, was remembered by Sutherland as “such a wonderful spirit,” reflecting on their shared experiences on set.
In the 2014 X-Men film, Canto brought the character of mutant Sunspot to life, earning recognition from co-star Halle Berry, who later cast him in her movie Bruised.
Survived by his wife, Stephanie Canto, and their two children – Roman Alder and Eve Josephine – Adan Canto leaves behind a legacy that extends beyond the screen.
Fox TV expressed their condolences on Wednesday, remembering Canto with warmth: “He’ll always be our Arman. ❤ Adan Canto, your memory will be cherished forever. We grieve alongside Adan’s family, friends, and fans.”
Warner Bros. Television, in a heartfelt statement, acknowledged the actor’s contributions: “We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Adan Canto, a wonderful actor and dear friend. We were honored to have him as part of the Warner Bros. Television and FOX Entertainment families with THE CLEANING LADY and THE FOLLOWING. We will miss Adan dearly.”
Born in Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico, Adan Canto embarked on his acting journey, securing his first TV role in the Mexican series ‘Estado de Gracia’ in 2009. Until his final days, Canto remained a respected figure in the entertainment industry, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who worked with him and the audiences who admired his talent.
