Lagos: Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour Expresses Shock In Supreme Court Judgement
Labour Party governorship candidate in the 2023 Election in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour has expressed shock at the Supreme Court victory for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as he expressed concerns about what it holds for future generations.
He made his comment via his X social media account even after Governor Sanwo-Olu had invited him and other rivals to join him in building Lagos following the court judgment.
Gbadebo said, “While I submit to this shocking decision of the Supreme Court, I worry for what this precedent holds for future generations being led by leaders with conflict of interest and loyalty.
“There is no Liberal Democracy that will accept to be led by an individual who has sworn an oath of allegiance to another country. Citizens should not have to contemplate the loyalty of their commander in chief or the chief security officer of their state. That said, as the court pleases .”
He further submitted two documents corroborating his decisions:
Gabriel N. said, “It wouldn’t be out of place to say, as unfortunate as it may sound, that Nigeria is officially a lawless country. How can the constitution expressly state one thing and the court will unabashedly say the opposite?”
Omotayo Akorede said, “The Law has always been clear about dual citizenship as long as you are a Nigerian by BIRTH.
That section of the Constitution only prevents someone who naturalized”
