Funke Akindele’s Nollywood masterpiece, ‘A Tribe Called Judah,’ is gearing up for an even more extensive cinematic journey as it prepares to captivate audiences in nine French-speaking African countries.
This exciting distribution expansion, set to kick off on Friday, January 19, 2024, will be skillfully managed by Canal Olympia Showtimes Cinemas.
The film initially made waves in Nigeria, debuting in December before making its mark in Ghana and the United Kingdom. Now, with this new leap, ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ is set to reach viewers in a total of 12 countries, broadening its cultural impact.
As of January 14, 2024, the movie had secured its place in history by becoming the highest-grossing Nigerian film ever, amassing an impressive ₦1,296,686,092 in revenue, as reported by the Cinemas Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN).
‘A Tribe Called Judah’ weaves a captivating tale around five brothers—Emeka Judah, Pere Judah, Adamu Judah, Shina Judah, and Ejiro Judah—who join forces to commit a daring heist to save their mother, Jedidah Judah, portrayed by Akindele herself. The film features an illustrious cast, including Ebele Okaro, Uzor Arukwe, Nse Ikpe Etim, and many more.
The upcoming screenings are set to unfold in 13 regions across the nine countries, from Cameroon to Gabon, showcasing the movie’s universal appeal. This strategic decision to venture into French-speaking African territories underscores the expanding influence of Nollywood cinema across the continent and beyond.
