On the heels of the explosion that rocked Ibadan on Tuesday,  a gas plant went on fire in Port Harcourt on the same Tuesday night. Viral videos on X captured widespread fire from the gas plant ascending to the sky. Residents in the area looked on with confusion at the raging fire.

According to eyewitnesses, the ugly fire incident  occurred along Eneka -Igwurita road, Port Harcourt.

At exactly 11:02 pm Tuesday night, an X user with the handle PortHarcourtspecials disclosed, “A gas plant is currently on fire along Eneka -Igwurita road! Please retweet for appropriate bodies to respond!!!”

Edward Godpower tweeted in response,

“All the calls for the Rivers state fire service to come to the rescue, was unsuccessful, even SHELL fire service that was close to where the incident occurred responded that “they’ve informed the State and Federal fire services” But none came till the fire quenched.”

Details of what caused the fire outbreak in Port Harcourt remain unknown and GWG will continue to follow up until further details are obtained.

Meanwhile, the authorities in Oyo State have linked the explosion in Ibadan to the activities of illegal miners operating in the area.
