Mob for killing teacher

A mob reportedly set a Toyota Corolla ablaze after it was involved in an accident resulting in the death of a public school teacher, identified as Okunola K. in Ode-Omu, Ayedaade local government area of the state,

The sorrowful incident, confirmed by Adigun Daniel, the Divisional Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), unfolded on a fateful Tuesday along Gbongan-Osogbo road. The victim, Okunola K., a teacher at St. Michael Grammar School, Obada, Ode-Omu, lost his life on the spot when the vehicle collided with him.

According to an eyewitness, Laolu Adeola, the teacher had just closed from school, bought cassava peel, and was waiting to board a motorcycle to his Oogi-home when the unfortunate accident occurred.

Daniel, while confirming the teacher’s demise, shared that the driver of the car fled the scene, leaving the situation uncontrollable as the grief-stricken mob gathered.

“In their attempt to regain control, efforts proved futile, especially at the bustling market square. The mob, unable to contain their emotions, set the vehicle ablaze, reducing it to ashes and beyond recognition,” Daniel explained.

The circumstances leading to the accident unfolded rapidly. The car lost control, veering off the road towards the motorcycle that was about to carry the victim. Fortunately, the motorcyclist narrowly escaped by jumping off the bike. The mob’s response was swift; as soon as the tragic loss of the teacher was confirmed, they set the vehicle ablaze, perhaps as an outlet for their grief and frustration at the scene of the incident.

This heartbreaking incident not only claimed the life of a dedicated teacher but also showcased the intensity of emotions within the community, leading to a drastic and devastating end for the vehicle involved.
