Senator Ireti Commends Nigerian Army For Successful Rescue of Abuja Abductees
The senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on the auspices of the Labour Party, Ireti Kingibe, has lauded the Nigerian Army for successfully rescuing abducted victims of the Bwari Area Council kidnapping incidents.
She reached out through her X social media account on Sunday saying, “I wish to commend soldiers of the Nigerian Army for successfully rescuing kidnap victims in Abuja”.
Senator Ireti disclosed that she had made several efforts to reach out to security operatives across the military to intervene in sporadic abduction incidents in FCT.
“I have been quite vocal in calling on security operatives across the armed and paramilitary services to rise to the occasion amid growing incidents of criminality particularly kidnapping, of innocents within the FCT.
“The efforts of the soldiers in rescuing the kidnap victims indicates that the leadership of the Army and other components of the Nigerian Armed Forces, are listening to me and other Nigerians who insist that the lives of Nigerians cut short too frequently, must be better secure.
“I am gladdened by the news of the rescue of these victims by the Army. Their courage in relentlessly tracking and pursuing the kidnappers to the point that they had to flee and abandon their captives is very commendable” .
She further urged the leadership of the Nigerian Army to see in their latest success, proof that with diligence and dedication, the battle against kidnapping and other criminal activities can be won.
“It is important to note that despite this latest success of the military, there is still a long way to go in ensuring that every resident of the FCT goes to bed with their two eyes closed.
“We are not out of the woods yet as far as kidnapping and other crimes are concerned but incremental gains like this latest one encourages one to hope for the best, the senator said.
On Saturday night, a joint operation of the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Police, successfully freed the remaining daughters of Mansoor Al-Khadriya, whose second daughter, Nabeeha, had been sadly, killed by the kidnappers. A few days earlier, soldiers of the Nigerian Army had rescued some kidnapped victims in a forest located in Abuja.
Responding, Honourable Olaniyi said, “We appreciate you for all you’ve been doing ma. Kindly use your good office to appeal to FG on welfare and befitting salary for the soldiers. The news circulating around about their welfare and lack of gear to face the criminals is disheartening. God bless Nigeria”.
Seun Osewa commented, “They really focused on you and your efforts paid off in the end.
