Police Shoot Teargas To Disperse ‘Sacked’ PDP Plateau Lawmakers

Policemen, on Tuesday, teargassed 16 Peoples Democratic Party, PDP members of the Plateau State House of Assembly who were sacked by the Court of Appeal as they made an attempt to recover their seats.

Their move followed their determination to recover their seats following the SUpreme Court judgement that described thier sack as a grave act of injustice.

The lawmakers had arrived at the Rayfield Old Government House in Jos on Tuesday morning alongside their supporters preparatory to their resumption of plenary when the incident happened.

The policemen and other security operatives took over the premises of the Government House and prevented the sacked lawmakers from going into the chambers of the House of Assembly but the lawmakers vowed not to vacate the premises.

It was in the melee that the policemen shot tear gas carnisters into the air causing the sacked lawmakers to take flight.
