Japa: Nigerian Student Who Died A Day After Arrival In UK To Be Buried Thursday
A Nigerian student, Saheed Wahab, who tragically passed away in the United Kingdom shortly after arriving to pursue a Master’s degree, will be laid to rest there, Nigerians In the UK Community (NIUK) said on Wednesday.
Wahab’s untimely demise occurred on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, just a day after he arrived at Teesside University in the UK to commence his academic journey. The news was shared by NIUK, expressing sorrow over the loss and extending their support to the bereaved family.
In an effort to assist the grieving family, NIUK announced their collaboration with Wahab’s wife and family members in Nigeria. The family granted permission to the community to make arrangements for his funeral services in the United Kingdom. The group also established communication with the coroner handling his remains, ensuring a comprehensive and considerate approach to the situation.
Emphasizing the urgency and significance of the support needed, NIUK reached out to the community for financial assistance to facilitate Wahab’s burial (Janaza). The funeral is scheduled to take place on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Jamia Masjid Al Madina, 133a Waterloo Rd, Middlesbrough TS1 3JB.
This heartbreaking incident highlights the challenges faced by students who travel abroad for education and underscores the importance of community support during times of tragedy.
