The Lagos State Government, in collaboration with the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), has taken a proactive stance against noise pollution, sealing off various establishments, including a branch of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

This latest move is part of the ongoing efforts to enforce stringent environmental regulations, with a total of seven establishments facing closure due to violations.

LASEPA’s intervention is not confined solely to religious institutions but extends its reach to diverse locations such as lounges, bars, event centers, and residential apartments. The list of sealed establishments includes Red Bar, Farm City, The Odyssey Apartments, Acuma Event Centre, Dominion City Church, RCCG (The New Covenant Assembly), and Fortunes Shortlet Apartment. These structures, dispersed across Lekki Phase 1, Oniru, Lekki, and Ajah on Lagos Island, have been identified for various environmental infractions.

This recent action follows a similar move by LASEPA last year when it sealed branches of religious centers, including RCCG, for environmental offenses. The repeated closures underscore the government’s unwavering commitment to maintaining a peaceful and sustainable environment, free from the disruptions caused by noise pollution and other environmental violations.

The state government, conveying its decision through official channels, emphasized the imperative of addressing instances of noise pollution. The statement highlights the government’s dedication to creating an environment that is not only safer and cleaner but also environmentally friendly. As the crackdown on noise pollution continues, LASEPA remains resolute in its mission to ensure a harmonious coexistence between the residents and their surroundings.

This stringent measure is part of a broader strategy to foster environmental awareness and compliance within the state. LASEPA, as the enforcing arm of the government in matters of environmental regulations, reassures the public of its commitment to a sustainable, noise-free, and environmentally conscious Lagos.
