Dollar Scarcity Send BDC Operators Packing

Currency change operators popularly called “Bureau De Change” (BDC) operators in Abuja have shutdown operations owing to the scarcity of dollars at the parallel market.

The Chairman of the BDC Association, Mallam Abdullahi Dauran, made this known at the Federal Capital Territory, on Wednesday.

Mallam Duran revealed that business transactions and cryptocurrency contributed to the development.

He added that the closure of business would take effect from Thursday, February 1, 2024.

The development emerged few hours after a senate panel summoned Olayemi Cardoso, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), over the forex crisis.
