UNICAL Professor Charged With Sexual Harassment May Get Bail Friday

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja will on Friday give its ruling on the application for bail by the embattled Professor of Law of the University of Calabar, UNICAL Professor Cyril Ndifon following the allegations of serial sexual harassment leveled against him.

Ndifon had been arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practises and Other related Offences Commission, ICPC over claims that he allegedly sexually harassed students under his supervision.

One of the students allegedly so harassed, TKJ (not real name), had told the court that Prof. Cyril Ndifon forced her to give him “a blow job” in his car.

She had also narrated how the married professor had also compelled her to send him her nudes.

Following the hearing on Wednesday which saw the witness, TKJ break down into tears as she narrated how she was allegedly made to do the blow job, the presiding judge, Justice James Omotosho had adjourned to Friday, February 9 to rule on the bail application of Ndifon.

GWG.ng reports that Ndifon is standing trial along with one of his lawyers who is facing a separate charge of obstruction to the course of justice.

The judge, who adjourned the matter after counsel for the defence and prosecution adopted their processes and presented their arguments for and against the bail plea, hinted that he was inclined to grant bail to the duo.

He said since bail was a constitutional right and the offences for which they were being charged were bailable ones, the defendants might likely be admitted to bail since the star witness who was alleged to have been threatened on phone had concluded her testimony.
