Nigerians Put Tinubu To Task As LG Chairman’s Aides Disrupt Reception For Gov Fubara

Nigerians have put President Bola Tinubu and the security agencies to task after political thugs led by a top aide of the chairman of Etche Local Government Area were captured on video destroying arrangements for a reception by supporters of Government Simi Fubara in the area.

The reception in Etche was supposed to commemorate the Supreme Court victory of Governor Fubara in the election petition filed against him.

The video clips showed political thugs who took time destroying the canopies that had been arranged for the reception. It is not known if the governor was supposed to be present in Etche for the reception.

Following the incident, Nigerians are posing questions to President Tinubu as to the motif of the thugs especially after the thugs sang praises of his minister, Nyesom Wike following the mayhem.

Meanwhile, the chairman of Etche Local Government Area who is a loyalist of Wike has dissociated himself from the mayhem despite viral reports that his top aide led the attack to disrupt the reception for Fubara.

However, the chairman of Etche Local Government Area, Dr Obinna Anyanwu was quick to dissociate himself from the mayhem despite the presence of his political associates.

A statement, issued on his behalf by his Chief Press Secretary, Robinson Oluor, said:

“The local government chairman, Dr. Obinna Anyanwu, never instructed, directed or sponsored any individual, or group to attack and destroy the already set equipments at the venue. It is also important to clearly state that the Etche council chairman, Obinna Anyanwu holds no grudges against the Rivers State governor and supporters of the governor who are members of the same political party he belongs to, the PDP.”

However, his post on Twitter was immediately rebuffed as many challenged President Tinubu on the mayhem that disrupted the reception for Gov Fubara in Etche.
