Transport Owners Call Off Planned Nationwide Strike
The National Association of Road Transport Owners, NARTO, has called off its planned nationwide strike.
The suspension came up after a meeting with the Federal Government and stakeholders.
Recall that NARTO had issued a notice to pull out its vehicles from the roads over economic conditions affecting tanker drivers.
The association’s members had threatened a countrywide shutdown starting on Monday due to the exorbitant cost of automotive gas oil (diesel), which is essential for fueling their trucks in transporting petroleum products across Nigeria.
The nation witnessed the price of diesel skyrocket to N1,226.69 per litre last week.
