Shehu Sani Puts Pressure On Governors Over Akpabio’s N30b Allocation

Former lawmaker and social critic, Senator Shehu Sani, has raised concerns over the silence of 35 state governors regarding the alleged disbursement of N30 billion each from the federation account to address inflation and high food prices in their respective states.

Senator Shehu Sani brought the issue to light when Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, mentioned an “unverified report” suggesting that state governors had received additional funds to alleviate economic hardships and food shortages.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, also the Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, swiftly refuted Akpabio’s claim, stating that his state did not receive such funds and reaffirming his administration’s commitment to transparency.

However, Senator Shehu Sani expressed dissatisfaction with the response from Makinde alone, questioning why the other 35 governors had remained silent on the matter. In a post on his social media handle, Sani highlighted the discrepancy between Akpabio’s assertion and Makinde’s denial, urging other governors to address the issue and provide clarity.
