Edo: PDP Shuns Shaibu, To Present Ighodalo With Certificate Of Return

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced plans to present the Certificate of Return to its Edo State governorship candidate, Dr Asue Ighodalo, on Tuesday.

According to a statement released by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the presentation ceremony will take place at the National Executive Committee (NEC) Hall, Wadata Plaza, PDP National Secretariat in Abuja at 12 noon.

GWG.ng reports that the statement comes following the successful completion of the Edo State governorship primary election and the ratification of the exercise by the appeal panel. Dr. Asuerinme Ighodalo emerged as the elected candidate of the PDP for the September 21, 2024 governorship election in Edo State.

However, the statement remained silent on the fate of the state deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, who reportedly emerged as a candidate in a parallel primary held on the same day.

The presentation of the Certificate of Return to Dr Asuerinme Ighodalo signifies a significant milestone for the PDP as it prepares for the upcoming gubernatorial election in Edo State.

GWG.ng reports that the readiness of the PDP to present its certificate of return to Asue Ighodalo could be a further affirmation of the rejection of the parallel primary that produced Shaibu as candidate of the party for Edo State.
