After 10-Day Record Cooking, Guinness World Records Disqualifies Lady
Faila Abdul-Razak, a Ghanaian chef, is facing a major disappointment in her New Year ambition after Guinness World Records (GWR) disqualified her attempt to establish a new record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
The ambitious endeavor began on January 1st, 2024, at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale, where Faila embarked on a 10-day cooking marathon with the aim of surpassing the existing record.
Over the course of 10 days, Faila tirelessly cooked for 227 hours, surpassing the previous record held by Irish chef Alan Fisher. However, the effort by Faila was marred by a violation of the rest break rules, as cited by the Guinness World Records Management Team, leading to the disqualification of her attempt.
Despite the setback, Faila expressed gratitude to her supporters, acknowledging their unwavering encouragement throughout her journey.
Faila’s coordinator, Kafui Dey, announced the disqualification in a statement, underscoring the importance of adhering to the stringent rules set forth by Guinness World Records.
While the attempt by Faila may not have resulted in the official nod by Guinness World Records, her determination and perseverance serve as an inspiration to aspiring chefs and enthusiasts alike who followed her effort.
