Twenty-five-year-old Ada Eme, Nigeria’s contender at the 71st Miss World pageant is aiming to clinch the crown after making it to the top 40 finalists. The grand finale is set for Saturday at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, India.

Eme’s outstanding speech during the head-to-head challenge propelled her to the top 40. Alongside contestants from Botswana, Zimbabwe, Lebanon, and England, she addressed global challenges, promoting beauty with a purpose. Her project, “Health For All,” focused on combating Schistosomiasis, a disease prevalent in tropical regions.

Her dedication earned her not only a spot as a finalist but also a $5,000 cash prize from Julia Morley, Chairman, and CEO of the Miss World Organisation. Inspired by her scholarship Ada Eme has led campaigns against the disease and particularly initiated immunization and treatment programs for children in riverine areas.

Expressing hope for victory, Ada Eme emphasized the shared goals among fellow Miss World contestants and her determination to excel. The Miss World event began on February 18, featuring various events across New Delhi. Competing alongside Eme are representatives from other African nations such as Angola, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, and South Africa.

Having departed for India in November, Ada Eme has undergone rigorous preparation for the grand finale of the Miss World competition. With the stage set for Saturday, March 9, at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai, Eme remains optimistic about her chances of bringing the coveted crown home to Nigeria.
