Nigerian Activist In Police Net After Allegedly Beating Wife To Death
The Rivers State Police Command has made a significant arrest, apprehending a human rights activist named Micheal Chidozie. The arrest follows a tragic incident where Chidozie is accused of fatally beating his wife, Mrs. Ufuoma Chidozie, who was only 32 years old and a mother of three children.
Currently, Chidozie is being held in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Port Harcourt, where authorities are conducting interrogations to gather more information about the incident.
According to sources close to the family, the situation took a devastating turn when Mrs. Ufuoma succumbed to the injuries inflicted upon her during the alleged assault by her husband. It’s reported that Chidozie, realizing the severity of the situation, fled the scene after contacting the deceased’s brother and informing him of an emergency.
When the brother arrived at the house, he was met with the heartbreaking sight of his sister’s lifeless body. However, Chidozie was nowhere to be found, adding further suspicion to his involvement in the incident.
The subsequent arrest of Chidozie occurred early Wednesday morning, thanks to the diligent efforts of police personnel from the Agip Estate Police Division, Mile 4, Port Harcourt, who acted on credible intelligence.
Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest of the suspect and provided assurance that the remains of the deceased have been taken to a mortuary for further investigation. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting discussions about domestic violence and the need for greater awareness and intervention to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.
