Tragedy struck as Akintoye Benson, a trusted ally of Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, the chairman of the Lagos Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), met his untimely demise in a fatal car crash.

The incident, captured in a viral video, occurred on the Third Mainland Bridge on Thursday night.

Ogunseye Vincent, a close friend of the deceased, took to social media to express his shock and grief over Benson’s sudden passing. He described Benson as a vibrant individual with ambitious aspirations and unwavering determination.

“The news of your passing came to me as a rude shock. You were a vibrant man with high hopes and vision,” Vincent lamented. Despite the profound sadness, Vincent found solace in the belief that divine providence would grant Benson eternal peace.

“Though the memory we shared remains forever, I take solace in the trust that Olodumare will grant your soul a peaceful rest. Sail well to eternity, Comrade Akintoye Benson (Baba Ogun),” he added, bidding farewell to his dear friend.

Prior to his untimely demise, Benson held the esteemed position of chairman of the Tricycle Owners and Operators Association of Nigeria (TOOAN) Zone H. His contributions and leadership within the association were highly regarded, leaving a lasting impact on the tricycle transportation industry.

Despite efforts to reach out to Akinsanya for a comment on the tragic incident, all attempts proved futile as his phone remained unreachable at the time of reporting. The news of Benson’s passing reverberated throughout the community, leaving many in mourning as they grappled with the sudden loss of a respected figure. As investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident continue, fond memories of Benson’s vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication serve as a poignant reminder of his enduring legacy within the transport sector and beyond.
