LASU Mathematics Alumni Rewards 5 Excellent Students With N300,000

The Alumni of the Mathematics Department, Lagos State University, have reportedly rewarded five students with N300,000 for their excellent academic performance.

GWG.ng gathered that the five excellent students had the best Grade Point Average in the 2022–2023 academic session in the Mathematics Department of the university.

The N300,000 award was divided among the five students who were drawn from the first, second, and third years of the department.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the alumni presented the cash to the students during an orientation programme for newly-admitted students in the department on Tuesday at LASU, Ojo campus.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, who was represented by the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Lawal Adigun, encouraged the beneficiaries to see the reward as motivation to work even harder.

She said, “The scholarship award will go a long way toward encouraging our brilliant students to continue to work hard and focus on their studies without distractions.

“I also commended the department for exposing its students to their rights and responsibilities.

“It is in the interest of the students to familiarize themselves with the students’ handbook and strictly follow the rules and regulations of their department to have a hitch-free stay at the university. I urge you to shun all vices and be passionate about your academic pursuit.”
