Soludo’s Two Years: Celebrating The Giant Developmental Strides

Great Azikigbo reviews the two years of the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in Anambra State and gives his ringing endorsement of the strides of the former central banker.

In successive years, Anambra has not had it better since the inception of the APGA government in 2006. It has been a tenure of progressivism as captured in the name of our political party, the All PROGRESSIVE Grand Alliance. The progressive stressed because it’s imbued and runs in the blood of every Onye APGA.

When Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo was sworn in as Governor of Anambra State on the 17th day of March 2022, he declared there and then that every Kobo of Ndi Anambra will be effectively used for the good of the people having swung into action that same day and worked for Eight (8) consecutive productive hours which yielded positively in the overall interest of the state.

Charly Nwamgbafor as he is fondly called is a servant leader who understands the desires and needs of the people and goes to tackle them head-on.

It is noteworthy to point out that Governor Soludo came prepared with a blueprint on how to transform our dear state into a livable smart megacity that will change the aesthetics and put Anambra on par with other developed cities of the world. 

Governor Soludo’s name is synonymous with development as he has a strong penchant for excellence and seamless development of our state using the resources of the state. Prof Charles Soludo is a solution-driven man whose mantra of change is built on solution.

In celebrating the two years of Mr. Governor’s robust leadership in Anambra State, Prof Soludo has awarded over 450km of road networks across the three(3) Senatorial zones in the state with 50% mobilization paid upfront to the contractor. He has commissioned over 240km of roads out of the over 450km already awarded. In making sure that the development gets to the nooks and crannies of the state, Mr Governor made it a *point of duty* that every local government in the State will get a fair share in the massive road construction going on in the state.

Mr. Governor has also employed over 8,000 teachers to effectively curb the issue of schools without teachers syndrome which has provided meaningful employment opportunities to our teeming youths and graduates. *He has declared and implemented free and compulsory education for students and pupils from nursery school to JS III in the state-owned schools in Anambra.*

Mr. Governor has also employed over 1,500 health workers which includes Doctors, Midwives, Nurses and other health workers across the state-owned health facilities. This also puts an end to the issue of hospitals without health workers.

Mr. Governor has also built new General Hospitals in the Senatorial zones and reequipped existing state-owned health institutions to enhance quality healthcare dispensation in the state. The provision of free Antenatal care for pregnant women and free child delivery in state-owned medical institutions across the State has helped in checking the patronage of quack medical outfits in the state and has reduced the maternal mortality rate which results from pregnancy and childbirth-related complications.

In the areas of *human capital development,* Governor Soludo has through the One Youth Two Skills program of his *administration,* trained, tooled and empowered over 5000 beneficiaries and is still doing more in the areas of youth development. He has also trained over 25,000 beneficiaries in ICT-related soft skills through the Solution Innovation District Hub which is in tandem with his vision of having Anambra as a new Silicon Valley.

Most recently is the distribution of over 2000 brand new computer laptops to Principals and headteachers of state-owned and mission-based schools in Anambra State.

Mr. Governor does not blow his trumpet as he believes that all that he has been doing falls within his primary duties as the Governor of the state. He has shown to be a leader with vision and mission with duration as he is efficiently giving his all in the interest of the state.

In all of this, Mr. Governor has not borrowed a dime from any financial institution even when the Anambra State House of Assembly approved *a* loan request of 100 billion, even when the loan was approved for bankable projects at a very low interest rate, yet the Governor backed out from accessing the loan on the ground that his administration will not mortgage the future of Ndi Anambra.

Mr. Governor is performing wonders and touching all the sectors of the state simultaneously. In just two years of his administration, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has done more with less.

Congratulations on your 24 months in office as the Executive Governor of Anambra State, you’ve proven to be a leader that has come to work.
