Corps Member Shares Five Easy Steps To Produce Glue At Home

A glue is a liquid used to connect different solid materials without making use of machinery or other techniques (welding, soldering and bolts). 

Do you know you can make glue out of fuel and styrofoam? Are you curious about the ‘how’? 

Creative, Educator and Corps Member, Akingbehin Oluwafunmibi, shared with our correspondent five easy steps on how to produce glue from the comfort of your home:

Step 1: Get a cup of petrol. The quantity should depend on how much glue you intend to produce; however, you do not need a large quantity of petrol. Get pieces of styrofoam, a mixing bowl, and a spoon.

Step 2: Break the styrofoam into small pieces. The smaller the pieces, the easier it will be to combine with the fuel.

Step 3: Pour the fuel into the mixing bowl. Dip each piece of styrofoam into the fuel one after the other. The styrofoam should break down and dissolve in the fuel, creating a glue-like consistency. Stir until the mixture is well combined.

Step 4: Allow the mixture to cool and thicken. The glue will become thicker as it cools.

Step 5: Use the glue as you would any other type of glue. It can be used for different purposes, such as bonding materials together.
