A Delta High Court in Effurun has approved an out-of-court settlement for Brownhill Investment Company, owned by Amaju Pinnick, and Davido, praised by Justice Michael Obi for their amicable resolution. Brownhill, owned by Pinnick, had filed a suit in October 2023 (marked EHC/183/2023), alleging a breach of contract by Davido for the ‘Warri Again Concert.’ They sought N2 billion in damages, N150 million for legal fees, and N30 million for filing costs.

In response, Davido’s counsel, Mr Oladayo Ogungbe, confirmed the out-of-court settlement, stating Davido will perform at the ‘Warri Again’ concert on October 4 as part of the agreement. Ogungbe commended the decision, deeming it preferable to lengthy litigation. The resolution marks a win-win scenario for both parties, fostering a cooperative spirit in resolving disputes.

The ‘Warri Again’ concert, an annual celebration organized by Pinnick, showcases talent from the Niger Delta region. The court’s endorsement of the out-of-court settlement underscores the effectiveness of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in mitigating conflicts and promoting mutual understanding.

The resolution highlights the significance of dialogue and compromise in legal proceedings, emphasizing the benefits of finding common ground outside of the courtroom. Justice Obi’s commendation of both parties reflects the court’s appreciation for their willingness to engage in constructive negotiations, ultimately saving time and resources for all involved.
