WAEC Releases Results Of First-Ever CBT Exam For Private Candidates, 2024

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has unveiled the results of the inaugural Computer-Based CBT, West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for private candidates, 2024 – first series. This marks a significant milestone in the evolution of examinations within the region, transitioning to a digital platform for assessment.

Spanning from Wednesday, January 31, to Saturday, February 17, 2024, the examination witnessed the participation of a total of 8,139 candidates. These candidates undertook their assessments across 140 designated Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers located nationwide.

The release of these results shows the continuous efforts by educational bodies to adapt to modern technological advancements in assessment methodologies. As digital platforms become increasingly integrated into education systems, the CB-WASSCE for private candidates represents a progressive step towards ensuring the efficacy and relevance of examinations in today’s digital age.

Meanwhile, WAEC has withheld results of 65 candidates that participated in the  maiden Computer Based Test (CBT) of its 2024 first series WASSCE, for Private Candidates.

Dr Amos Dangut, council’s Head of National Office (HNO) disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen to announce the release of results of this year’s  West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), on Friday, in Lagos.

Dangut stated that the  results, representing 0.80 per cent, were being withheld following reported cases of examination malpractice.

He said that when compared with the 413 recorded cases of examination malpractice in the 2023 diet of the same examination, it revealed that the new method of administration of this year’s  test had drastically reduced examination malpractice.
