A viral video which captured Super Eagles’ Captain, Ahmed Musa, refusing to shake hands with Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf Kyari, has sparked reactions from netizens across diverse social media spaces.

In the video, while Musa bowed the knee to return a handshake from an associate of Kyari, Musa refused to take the governor’s handshake which got many talking.

While a section of netizens see Musa’s action as a form of disrespect others rose to defend the football captain, maintaining that Musa’s action was a sign of respect for the elderly within the ambience of the northern culture. See reactions from netizens on Instagram below:
