All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State, Dr Isaiah Osifo has urged the embattled national chairman of the Labour Party, Barrister Julius Abure to leave the stage.

In a statement made available to GWG.ng, Osifo said that issues around Abure were among the reasons that he opted to leave the party for APGA.

Osifo said:

“Let Julius Abure go home in shame. He has destroyed LP, and I hope NLC will be able to pick the pieces and put it together.

“I saw this long ago, I wrote and I advised Julius Abure against brazen violation of LP constitution and the laws of Nigeria. His refusal to yield is why I joined APGA for Edo State governorship election.

“According to Peter Obi, “I am more interested in building a new Nigeria than building a new Labour party. What is important is the development of the nation irrespective of party affiliation “.

“This is instructive and the voters in Edo State should vote on merit and character of the candidate and not on the platform of a political party.”

GWG.ng reports that Abure has been the subject of repeated controversy leading to the decision of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC to take over the party with many calling on him to leave the leadership of the party.
