Juan Vicente Perez Mora, the Venezuelan farmer who gained international recognition as the oldest man in the world, has passed away at the age of 114. His death marks the end of an extraordinary life that spanned over a century of history.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced the somber news, confirming Perez’s transition into eternity at the remarkable age of 114. Perez had been officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the oldest living man, a title bestowed upon him on February 4, 2022, when he was 112 years and 253 days old.

Born on May 27, 1909, in the town of El Cobre in the Andean state of Tachira, Juan Vicente Perez Mora was the ninth child in a family of ten. From a young age, he was immersed in the world of agriculture, working alongside his father and siblings in the fields, tending to crops such as sugar cane and coffee.

Despite humble beginnings, Perez’s life was characterized by resilience, hard work, and a commitment to community service. In addition to his agricultural pursuits, he served as a sheriff, playing a crucial role in resolving land and family disputes within his community.

Perez’s legacy extends beyond his remarkable longevity; he was a devoted family man, fathering eleven children and leaving behind a legacy of 41 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
