NFF Expels Referee And Assistant Over Controversial Officiating In NNL Match

Zaharadeem Nasiru, the referee overseeing the NNL match between Jigawa Golden Stars and Sporting Supreme, along with his assistant, Usman Auwalu, have been expelled by the NFF, BSNSports.com.ng has reported.

The decision follows controversy sparked by a goal awarded to the hosts, Jigawa Golden Stars, despite clear infringement as a player scored with his hand.

The incident, captured in a viral video, has stirred widespread debate, prompting calls for the officials’ removal from the game, both domestically and internationally.

As a consequence of their poor officiating, the referees have not only been ejected from the NNL but have also been banned from refereeing altogether in Nigeria, tarnishing the sport’s reputation.
