Nigeria’s Future Eagles Denied Visas For UEFA Tournament In Spain

Nigeria’s U15 boys, known as the Future Eagles are to miss out from the UEFA U16 Development Tournament in Spain after they were denied visas by the Spanish Embassy.

The NFF announced via its official X handle that both players and officials were refused visas, resulting in their exclusion from the tournament.

“Players and officials of the Nigeria U15 team, Future Eagles, have been denied visas by the Spanish Embassy and will therefore not be travelling to take part in the UEFA U16 Development Tournament starting on Friday.”

Recall that the Future Eagles underwent a week of training at the Remo Stars’ Sports Institute in Ikenne. During this time, they competed in two matches against the Remo Stars’ U16 boys (Beyond Limits FC), winning one and losing the other.

During a two-match tour of Morocco, Nigeria’s Future Eagles, led by Coach Patrick Bassey, experienced a mixed outcome. Despite a 2-3 defeat in the first game, they bounced back strongly to clinch a 5-3 victory in the second match held in Kenitra.

The denial of visas to the Future Eagles for the tournament in Spain is bound to draw questions from stakeholders and bound to reflect on the standing of the FA with the Spanish authorities.
