BREAKING: Nigeria’s Super Falcons Overwhelm South Africa To Qualify For Olympics
By GWG Football Editor
Nigeria’s Super Falcons have qualified for the female soccer competition of the Paris Olympics after defeating their South African counterparts 1-0 over two legs.
GWG.ng reports that Nigeria defeated South Africa in the Nigerian leg played last weekend and held the Bayana Bayana to a scoreless game over 90 minutes in the return leg in South Africa on Tuesday night.
With the victory over South Africa, Nigeria’s Super Falcons will be making a first appearance in the Olympics Soccer event for the first time in 16 years.
GWG.ng Football editor reports that Nigerian goal keeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie was a serious asset to the Super Falcons as she made more than five major saves to deny the South African girls entry into her goal.
She has been hailed as a major reason for Nigeria’s qualification for the Olympics making it that she kept a clean sheet over the two legs.
With the defeat, Nigeria has again asserted superiority over the South Africans in the round leather game having equally sent the Bafana Bafana as the male national team is referred to out of the African Cup of Nations during the elimination round.
The Nigerian Super Falcons are now poised to reenter the Olympics after putting away the South Africa challenge.
