Philip Shaibu, the impeached Deputy Governor of Edo State, has sent a letter to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, requesting a complaint form to formally petition against Edo State’s Chief Judge, Justice Daniel Okungbowa.
Shaibu was impeached on Monday by the State House of Assembly after the adoption of the report of a seven-man panel appointed by the Chief Judge of the State.
The impeachment panel investigated allegations of misconduct and perjury brought against the former Deputy Governor by the House.
In a letter dated April 8, 2024, from the Chambers of B.I. Dakum and Co, Shaibu applied to the CJN, who also serves as Chairman of the National Judicial Council, for permission to acquire a complaint form in order to formally petition against Edo State’s Chief Judge, Justice Daniel Okungbowa.
The letter, signed by Barrister Adaze A. Emwanta, a former Commissioner for Information and Orientation to Governor Godwin Obaseki, aims to initiate a petition regarding alleged abuse of office, official misconduct, and violation of the oath of office by the Edo Chief Judge.
