Cristiano Ronaldo has found himself at the center of controversy after his Al-Nassr team suffered a 2-1 defeat against Al-Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup semi-final that came with him being served a red card.

Tempers flared in the closing moments of the match at Abu Dhabi’s Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium, as Ronaldo clashed with Al-Hilal defender Ali Al-Bulaihi near the touchline. Frustrated by Al-Bulaihi’s actions, Ronaldo reacted by elbowing his opponent in the chest and neck.

The altercation escalated, with tensions running high between the two teams. Ronaldo’s teammate, former Manchester City center-back Aymeric Laporte, intervened in an attempt to defuse the situation.

However, Ronaldo’s outburst resulted in a straight red card from referee Mohammed Al Hoish in the 86th minute. The incident marked Ronaldo’s first red card since joining Al-Nassr in December 2022.
