Rihanna has angered her fans after posing as a “sexy nun” on the cover of Interview Magazine.

The 36-year-old singer donned a black and white habit, the customary attire of religious orders, paired with an unbuttoned blouse revealing her cleavage.

After she shared the campaign and images on her Instagram account, many fans and critics flocked to her comment section to slam the look – claiming she had taken it too far and disrespected Christians and Catholics.

One user noted: “I love Rihanna but I never understand why the obsession with sexualizing religious representations.”

“Babe you didn’t have to do this,” another simply stated before a third noted: “Christianity gets disrespected way too openly.”

“What are you thinking? May God forgive you,” another asked before a fifth fumed: “Whyyyyyy just leave all religions in peace I’m not Christian and I feel bothered watching things like this.”

One user commented: “Not sure who planned and advised this, but it’s leaving a very bad taste!! Why this mockery of Christianity? Why?!?!”

However, not all fans were left unimpressed with the cover, as one supported: “To the haters: WOMP WOMP. Ya look good RiRi!!!!” (sic)

This isn’t the first time that Rihanna has been in the firing line, as back in 2021 she was accused of “cultural appropriation” by fans for wearing a pendant of Hindu god Ganesha in a topless photo.

The year prior, she landed in hot water for using a song featuring sacred Islamic texts as a soundtrack to her racy Savage X Fenty lingerie show.

Despite the Umbrella singer annoying her fans with “constant appropriation”, the singer has previously spoken about her own faith and “leaning on God”.

In a previous chat with Interview back in 2019, she said: “My first time praying and fasting was when I was seven years old.

“I did that on my own, because I wanted to go to New York, and I knew that this was a sacrifice I had to make in order for god to make sure I could get there.

“I have been in a place where I felt like maybe I had disappointed god so much that we weren’t as close. That happened to me while I was making Anti.

“That was a really hard time, but, thank God, I got through it. My grandmother was the one who started me on this.

“She gave me a devotion book, a physical one. It was the last thing she gave me before she passed away.”
