Rivers Youths Demand Action Against Pro-Wike Commissioner Who Criticised Fubara In Public
The Rivers State Ethnic Youth Leaders Coalition is urging Commissioner for Special Projects, Chief Chukwuemeka Woke, to apologize to Governor Siminalayi Fubara for reportedly making negative remarks about the state’s current administration.
The youth leaders, in a statement released in Port Harcourt on Friday, also urged Governor Fubara to demonstrate discernment and decisiveness in handling disloyalty within his cabinet.
Signed by the group’s chairman, Dr. Legborsi Yamaabana, the statement emphasized that the welfare of the state and its citizens should always be prioritized over personal motives and political maneuvers.
It reads in part: “The hallowed halls of governance demand a steadfast commitment to the principles of integrity, loyalty, and service to the people. Emeka Woke’s egregious behavior, compounded by his history of resignation followed by an unrepentant return, underscores a dangerous trend of self-interest and disregard for public good.
“We implore the Governor, His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara to exercise discernment and decisiveness in addressing disloyalty within his cabinet. The interests of Rivers State and its citizens must always take precedence over personal agendas and political machinations,” the group said.
Furthermore, it requested that the Commissioner promptly retract his statement and issue an apology to both the governor and the government of Rivers State.
“We demand that Emeka Woke retract his egregious remarks without delay and issue a sincere apology to Governor Fubara and the government of Rivers State. His refusal to do so will only magnify his blatant betrayal of the Governor Fubara’s administration, an affront that cannot be overlooked or tolerated,” the group said.
The youth leaders commended former Rivers State Governor and elder statesman, Dr. Peter Odili, for his unwavering support for the Fubara-led administration and the shared aspirations of the people of Rivers.
“As the political landscape evolves, let us heed the call for unity, accountability, and dedication to the advancement of Rivers State. Together, we shall navigate the challenges ahead and forge a path towards a brighter, more prosperous future for all,” the youth leaders said.
