Claiming Tinubu’s Support, Ganduje Rebuffs Suspension, Court Order
By Gideon Ayeni
Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has rebuffed moves to remove him from office asserting that he has the confidence of President Bola Tinubu to continue.
GWG.ng reports that the reassurance comes in the wake of Ganduje’s suspension by his ward in Ganduje, Dawakin Tofa local government area of Kano State, over allegations of corruption and misconduct. The ward’s legal adviser, Haladu Gwanjo, cited Ganduje’s purported involvement in misappropriation of public funds and corruption scandals, including a widely circulated video allegedly showing him receiving bribes.
However, the Kano State Working Committee of the APC swiftly intervened, rejecting the suspension and sacking the ward leaders involved. The party’s local government chairman, Inusa Dawanau, accused those behind the suspension of engaging in anti-party activities, with alleged ties to opposition groups.
The moves against Ganduje won a legal cover on Tuesday when a Kano State High Court gave an order backing his suspension ordering him not to carry on as national chairman of the APC.
Addressing his supporters following the controversy, Ganduje revealed that President Tinubu assured him of his continued role as APC National Chairman. Ganduje emphasized Tinubu’s affirmation of his position amidst attempts by the Kano State government to remove him.
In Ganduje’s words: “I met with the President, and he told me that my position as APC Chairman, which the Kano State Government was trying to remove me from, will remain unchanged. He reaffirmed my position as APC National Chairman.

GWG.ng, however, is unable to confirm if the claim by Ganduje of getting the support of Tinubu as chairman of the APC came before or after the order of the Kano State High Court.
