Former Atiku Spokesman Faces Backlash Over Controversial Remarks On PDP Crisis

Published

on

Erstwhile spokesman of the Atiku Abubakar 2023 Presidential Campaign, Daniel Bwala has found himself in controversy after attempting to make light of the ongoing political turmoil within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Bwala, using his social media handle, made remarks suggesting that the crisis within the party ran deep, comparing it to the challenges faced by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Somalia.

His comments came shortly after reports emerged that the former governor of Rivers State, now serving as a minister in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), attended the party’s caucus meeting preceding Thursday’s National Executive Council (NEC) session.

Wike, known for leading a faction of dissenting governors during the last presidential election, became a focal point in Bwala’s analogy. However, Bwala’s attempt at humor backfired as comments poured in from social media users, with many criticizing him rather than engaging with the substance of his post.

In a particularly controversial move, Bwala called on his followers to share an image of a monkey holding the balls of an elephant, further adding fuel to the fire.

The incident underscores the sensitivity of the current political climate and highlights the risks associated with attempting to inject humor into serious discussions surrounding party politics and governance.

Bwala’s quotes:

“Wike perfectly fits the analogy that a non-kinetic military approach is the only solution to counter-insurgency. The problem is deeper than you imagine. The case of IMF and Somalia.”

“Who has the picture of a monkey holding the balls of an elephant? Pls drop it here.”
