Why Bobrisky, Cubana Chief Priest Are Getting Different Treatments On Naira Abuse (Video)
As the legal battles of prominent personalities Bobrisky and Cubana Chief Priest unfold, renowned content creator and lawyer Timi Agbaje has shed light on the differing outcomes of their cases, particularly regarding charges of abusing the naira.
Bobrisky, the controversial crossdresser, made headlines after being sentenced to six months in jail for pleading guilty to allegations of naira abuse brought forward by the EFCC. However, in a surprising turn of events, Cubana Chief Priest, another socialite facing similar charges, was granted bail with a hefty N10 million condition.
Explaining the discrepancy, Timi Agbaje, a law degree holder, delved into the legal intricacies of the cases. He highlighted that Bobrisky’s guilty plea played a pivotal role in his sentencing, leaving the court with limited options, ultimately resulting in imprisonment.
In contrast, Cubana Chief Priest’s case took a different trajectory due to his plea of innocence. Under the law, Timi elaborated, the EFCC must provide concrete evidence, including the serial number and source of the money allegedly abused, to establish a solid case against the accused. Without such evidence, bail is often granted pending further investigation.
Moreover, Timi Agbaje humorously alluded to the recent viral testimony of Anyim Vera, who claimed to possess a BSc in Law during a church service, juxtaposing the traditional LL.B qualification with the unconventional BSc in Law. In a light-hearted manner, he quipped about the contrasting paths one could take in the legal field.
“You either follow Lawyer and be safe or you follow Scientist and become an experiment”.- He concluded.
