The former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ward 10, Abavo, Ika South local government area of Delta state, Elder Francis Amamosa, met a tragic end, being killed alongside two other farmers while working on their farm near the Railway line at Okpe quarters, Abavo, allegedly by killer-herdsmen.

Meanwhile, singer Goodnews Emuemu, known as Gnewzy, signed to Eric Many Records, was abducted on his way back from a show, taken by armed men posing as police officers along Eklat Road in Ughelli.

A family source alleged the involvement of herdsmen in the attack on the former PDP chairman claiming they took over the farm and attempted to abduct the victims.

“He was said to have resisted the kidnappers and questioned their audacity to order him out of his farm following which the herdsmen immediately shot him several times. But when they discovered that the bullets failed to penetrate his body they resorted to the use of machete to inflict deadly cuts on him leading to his bleeding to death,” the source narrated.

He also mentioned that the herders abducted two other farmers nearby during the incident.

“As I speak to you, the remains of late elder Francis Amamosa has been deposited at the mortuary while the matter has been reported at the Abavo Police Division,” he said.

Meanwhile, the singer’s manager, Obas9ice, who was also in the vehicle when they were accosted by the attackers, confirmed that the kidnappers have contacted him with a demand for $200,000 ransom to be paid within seven days. It has not been confirmed if the attackers were also killer-herdsmen many of whom have been said to be rampaging Delta State.

“Hi, Dilly. You have seven days to pay $200,000 for your artist, Gnewzy, or we will send out his head. We will send you an email in five days on location for drop-off. Involve the police or mark the money, and he will be killed,” the message stated.
