A 24-Year-Old Mother Arrested For Abandoning Baby In A Well In Delta State

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Abaniwonda Olufemi, has announced that operatives in the state apprehended Sofia Nkwor, a 24-year-old woman, for abandoning her one-year-and-one-month-old baby in a well near the Araya Community road in Isoko South Local Government Area.

CP Olufemi disclosed this at a press briefing on Thursday.

The Police Commissioner stated that children playing near the tree found the abandoned child floating in the well.

According to CP Olufemi, “The mother Sofia Nkwor ‘f’ aged 24yrs was immediately arrested and she stated that she dumped the child on 26th April 2024.”

He said, “Suspect is in custody and investigation is ongoing.”
